The independency of the Iraqi Central Bank

The decision made by the federal court to link the independent bodies to the government was controversial at all levels, especially those that affects the Central Bank of Iraq which is responsible for drawing up the monetary policy in the country that doesn’t necessarily have to comply to the financial policy laid down by the government. This workshop, which was held on February 2 2011, intends to review the main highlights of this decision and what effects (both positive and negative) that it might have and probably define the kind of relationship between the monetary and financial bodies.
